U.S. Natural Gas Futures Turn Higher -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
02-19

1256 ET - Natural gas futures shake off opening losses and add to last week's gains as this week's freezing weather across large parts of the U.S. lifts demand. Near-term weather conditions are supporting gains across the forward curve, as large drawdowns in natural gas storage imply a need for greater injections over the summer to replenish inventories, Andy Huenefeld of Pinebrook Energy Advisors says in a note. "While the likelihood of stronger domestic production will help inventories recover, increased LNG exports will provide a headwind to storage growth," he adds. The Nymex front month is up 4.4% at $3.888/mmBtu. (anthony.harrypo@wsj.com)
