Petco Health & Wellness named Sabrina Simmons as its finance chief, replacing Brian LaRose after more than three years in the role.
The San Diego-based pet store chain on Tuesday said that Simmons, who held Gap's finance chief position for about a decade until 2017 and served as a member of Petco's board of directors and audit chair since 2021, will help prepare the company for a return to growth.
LaRose is expected to remain with the company in an advisory role until April 30 to help ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities, Petco added.
Simmons' appointment follows a series of exits at Petco on a C-Suite level in recent months.
Over the past year, Petco has tapped Joel Anderson as chief executive, Glenn Murphy as executive chairman, and Joe Venezia as chief revenue officer.
Petco is expected to post earnings for its fiscal fourth quarter on March 13. In the latest quarter, the company posted better-than-expected results, but delivered an outlook for the fourth quarter that fell short of Wall Street expectations.
"While there is more work to do, our improving results increase our conviction that we are on the right path to position Petco to win long-term," Chief Executive Joel Anderson said early in December.
