China Southern Airlines' Passenger Capacity Rises Over 12% in January

China Southern Airlines' (HKG:1055, SHA:600029) passenger capacity, measured by available seat kilometers, rose 12.47% year over year to 34.1 billion in January, according to a Friday filing with the Hong Kong Exchange.

International passenger capacity grew 34.29% to 9.19 billion available seat kilometers, while domestic passenger capacity rose 6.03% to 24.7 billion available seat kilometers, the filing said.

Passenger traffic jumped 17.67% year-on-year to 28.9 billion revenue passenger kilometers during the reporting month, with domestic passenger traffic rising 9.71% to 20.9 billion revenue passenger kilometers and international passenger load surging 46.33% to nearly 7.76 billion revenue passenger kilometers.

Cargo capacity edged up 4.13% year on year to 1.70 billion available ton-kilometers. International cargo capacity grew 5.18% to 1.10 billion available ton-kilometers, while domestic cargo capacity rose 2.55% to 589.9 million available ton-kilometers, the filing said.

Cargo and mail carried inched up 1.58% to 162,280 tons. Domestic cargo carried rose 5.08% to 90,420 tons while international cargo fell 2.11% to 69,870 tons.
