Former Tesla board member Hiromichi Mizuno denied a Financial Times report that says he leads a Japanese group seeking an investment in Nissan Motor from Elon Musk's carmaker.
"I have absolutely no involvement in what is reported in this article and am unaware of any such moves by the Japanese government," Mizuno said in a post on X.
Mizuno added that while he isn't with Tesla anymore, he doubts Tesla has any interest in acquiring Nissan's U.S. factories.
The Financial Times report said Mizuno led a group, including ex-premier Yoshihide Suga and his former aide Hiroto Izumi, that planned to court Tesla for an investment in Nissan and believed Tesla was interested in Nissan's U.S. plants.
