BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) will launch the all-electric Qin L EV, after rolling out the hybrid Qin L Dm-i last May.
The new energy vehicle (NEV) maker started warming up for the Qin L EV by sharing three seals on Weibo today.
"The new mid-size pure electric sedan Qin L EV is coming soon," BYD wrote on Weibo.
Separately, Lu Tian, general manager of sales for BYD's Dynasty series, said on Weibo that the Qin L EV is a mid-size pure electric sedan aimed at a young demographic.
BYD released its DM 5.0 hybrid technology on May 28, 2024, which brought lower fuel consumption.
It launched the Qin L DM-i, and Seal 06 DM-i at that time as the first two models to feature its next-generation DM (dual mode) hybrid technology.
The Qin L DM-i comes with 80 km and 120 km battery range options and has a combined range of up to 2,100 km on a full tank of fuel and full charge.
The Qin L EV has made it to the list of models that will be allowed to be sold in China, released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on January 10, paving the way for its launch.
The battery electric vehicle (BEV) measures 4,720 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.
For comparison, the Qin L DM-i measures 4,830 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,790 mm.
The Qin L EV is powered by an electric motor with a maximum power of 110 kW and a top speed of 160 km/h, according to its filing information.
The five-seater sedan weighs 1,670 kilograms.
There is no pricing information available for the Qin L EV. The Qin L DM-i is currently offered in five variants in China with starting prices of RMB 99,800 ($13,790), RMB 109,800, RMB 119,800, RMB 129,800 and RMB 139,800 respectively.
The Qin family is one of BYD's best-selling models, selling 732,252 units in 2024 and contributing 17.14 percent of BYD's NEV sales, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
In addition to the Qin L DM-i, the Qin family includes the Qin Plus DM-i, and the Qin Plus EV.
