- The L90 will be Onvo's flagship product and is scheduled to debut in the second quarter and hit the market in the third quarter.
- The L90 will feature a three-row seating layout and is a large SUV aimed at large families.
The second model from Nio's (NYSE: NIO) sub-brand Onvo has been named the Onvo L90, rather than the previously rumored Onvo L80, as spy shots are just beginning to be revealed.
Onvo president Alan Ai revealed the model's name today in a live video stream with Charles Zhang, founder of Chinese news portal Sohu.
"#Onvo L90# I had so much fun talking with Charles today that I revealed the Onvo L90 will be coming soon," Ai wrote on Weibo.
The L90 will be Onvo's flagship product, and will feature a three-row seating layout and be a large SUV (sport utility vehicle) for large families, he said in the livestream.
Onvo plans to debut the L90 in the second quarter of this year and officially launch it in the third quarter, Ai said.
Onvo launched its first model, the L60, on September 19, 2024, and deliveries of the five-seat mid-size SUV began on September 28.
The day after the launch of the L60, Nio founder, chairman, and CEO William Li told media, including CnEVPost, in Hefei, Anhui province, on September 20, 2024, that Onvo would launch a mid-to-large-size SUV in 2025.
The new model would be a revolutionary product that would surprise and begin deliveries in the third quarter of 2025, Li said at the time.
In an earnings call last November 20, Li said Onvo would launch 2 family SUVs in 2025 -- a mid-to-large-size 6/7-seat SUV, and a large 5-seat SUV.
The brand's second model, which would be benchmarked against Li Auto's (NASDAQ: LI) Li L8 or Li L9, will be released in the second half of this year, Onvo vice president Xia Qinghua said at a user event in early January.
On January 22, Chinese automotive media outlet Xchuxing's CEO He Lei shared an image purportedly from Onvo that hinted that Onvo's second model is called the L80, and that it had already completed trial production and was about to enter the Tooling Trial (TT) phase.
Earlier this week, a user on Xchuxing's online community shared several spy shots of an SUV, claiming the model to be the Onvo L80, internally codenamed Blanc.
Onvo delivered 5,912 vehicles in January, bringing cumulative deliveries since last September to 26,673, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
