Feb 24 - (The Insurer) - Former Willis Re and Inver Re CEO Steve Hearn has been appointed chief operating officer of Brown & Brown.
Hearn, who is based in London, confirmed his appointment at the U.S. broker in a LinkedIn post on Monday. He has served as a non-executive director on Brown & Brown’s board since August last year, a role he has now relinquished to take up the COO position.
The appointment is the latest in a series of industry roles for Hearn, who has held several senior broking positions during his career.
He served as CEO of Ardonagh’s Inver Re until July 2023, having joined the company in 2001 through its $500 million acquisition of Corant Global.
Hearn had led Corant since it acquired his London wholesaler Ed in late 2018. He was previously deputy CEO of WTW between October 2012 and October 2015. Hearn has also served as CEO of Willis Re.
Hearn is currently chairman of London e-placement platform Placing Platform Limited, having succeeded former Hiscox CEO Bronek Masojada last year. He is also a non-executive director of Atrium Underwriters.
He has also previously chaired both the London Market Group and the London & International Insurance Brokers’ Association.
Brown & Brown did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
