Delek US Holdings will carry out maintenance turnarounds at its Tyler and Big Spring refineries in Texas this quarter, Joseph Israel, the company's executive vice president of operations, said on Tuesday.

In a call with analysts to discuss the company's fourth-quarter financial results, Israel said the work at the 77,500 b/d Tyler facility involves an alkylation unit and an upgrade that will increase production of high-value products by about 500 b/d.

He said Q1 throughput at Tyler to average between 65,000 b/d and 69,000 b/d.

The company also will replace catalyst in a reformer at its 74,000 b/d Big Spring refinery as well as a diesel hydrotreater, he said. Delek projects Q1 at Big Spring will average between 57,000 b/d and 61,000 b/d.

Refined products made at the Big Spring facility supply markets in the U.S. Southwest and fuel from the Tyler refinery is distributed to markets in northeast Texas.

Delek's 83,000 b/d Krotz Springs, La., refinery completed a major turnaround in the fourth quarter and since restarting, Israel said the refinery reported improved crude capacity, product mix and liquid yield recovery capability.

Israel said he expects Krotz Springs' Q1 throughput to average between 83,000 b/d and 86,000 b/d.

Chief Executive Avigal Soreq said the company plans no major turnarounds at its refineries this year.

Delek operates four U.S. refineries as well as logistics, fuel and convenience stores and renewables.
