NetEase's (HKG:9999) restored partnership with US video game developer Blizzard Entertainment could grant more autonomy to the Chinese video game publisher, Yicai Global reported Monday.
The US publisher has streamlined its review process and has been more welcoming to NetEase, the report said, citing the Chinese game publisher.
The development comes amid the visit of Blizard President Johanna Faries to China, according to Yicai.
NetEase and Blizzard severed ties in late 2022 due to failed contract negotiations but resumed their partnership in April 2024, the report said.
The renewed partnership saw the launch of World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, and Overwatch in China, according to Yicai.
The collaboration may also allow localization of games for Chinese users, the report said.
