MW Planet Fitness' stock rises as consumers' focus on fitness leads to earnings beat
Shares of Planet Fitness Inc. (PLNT) gained 0.5% in premarket trading Tuesday, as the first price increase in 25 years and consumers' continued focus on health and wellness set the stage for a fourth-quarter earnings beat.
Adjusted earnings per share rose to 70 cents from 60 cents and topped the FactSet consensus of 62 cents, to mark the seventh-straight quarter of bottom-line beats.
Revenue grew 19.4% to $340.5 million, above the FactSet consensus of $324.7 million, and same-club sales increased 5.5% to beat expectations of 5% growth.
