TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Simon Aloysius Mantiri, spoke out regarding the quality of Pertamax fuel and the ongoing investigation at the Attorney General's Office. He asserted that Pertamax with a Research Octane Number (RON) of 92 meets the quality standards set by the Directorate General of Oil and Gas (Ditjen Migas) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).

Simon claims that all of Pertamina's fuel products are closely monitored by the Ministry of ESDM through the Oil and Gas Testing Center (Lemigas) to ensure optimal quality. "We ensure that Pertamina's current operations are running smoothly, continuously optimizing services, and maintaining the quality of fuel products for the public," Simon said in his official statement on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

Regarding the Attorney General's investigation into the governance of crude oil and refinery products during the 2018-2023 period, Simon stated that Pertamina fully supports the ongoing legal process. He also assured that the investigation will not disrupt the company's operations in providing fuel for the public.

"As a national energy company, we continue to strengthen the principles of good corporate governance across all business lines. We also build a closer synergy with the Attorney General's Office to enhance operational transparency and accountability," he said.

Amidst the evolving issues, Simon appreciates the public's trust in Pertamina and urges the public to remain calm and not easily provoked by unaccountable issues.

Prior to this, the Attorney General's Office designated four executives of PT Pertamina (Persero) as suspects in a case of alleged corruption in the management of crude oil and refinery products by the Attorney General's Office. The suspects come from the directorate of Pertamina's subsidiaries and private parties allegedly involved from 2018 to 2023.

The suspects include Riva Siahaan as the President Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga; Sani Dinar Saifuddin as the Director of Feedstock and Product Optimization at PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional; Yoki Firnandi as the President Director of PT Pertamina International Shipping and Agus Purwono as the Vice President of Feedstock Management at PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional.

In the import procurement, Riva allegedly purchased refinery products with a Research Octane Number (RON) of 92 or Pertamax. However, in reality, RON 90 or pertalite was purchased. Blending was then carried out at the depot to make it RON 92. Qohar emphasized that this is not allowed.

Meanwhile, suspect Yoki in the import procurement of crude oil and refinery products at PT Pertamina International Shipping allegedly deliberately marked up by 13 to 15 percent. This benefited the broker, Kerry. "Well, due to the dominance of imports in meeting the crude oil needs, the prices soared," said Abdul Qohar, Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes at the Attorney General's Office.
