Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) is reportedly exploring plans to build a massive AI data center campus that could cost over $200 billion, according to The Information. The company has allegedly held discussions with developers and is eyeing potential sites in Louisiana, Wyoming, or Texas, with senior executives visiting locations earlier this month.

However, Meta is pushing back against the report. A company spokesperson denied the claim, stating that its data center plans and capital expenditures have already been disclosed and anything beyond that is pure speculation, according to Reuters.

Meta has been ramping up spending on AI infrastructure, with its 2025 capital expenditures projected at $60B-$65B, up from the expected $52B for 2024. CFO Susan Li previously said the increase is driven by investments in generative AI and core business operations.

Tech giants are pouring billions into AI infrastructure, taking a different approach from Chinese startup DeepSeek, which rattled U.S. markets in January with its low-cost AI model. Whether Meta moves forward with the rumored $200B project remains to be seen, but its commitment to AI expansion is clear.
