Alphabet's (GOOG) Google is offering voluntary exits for staff in its human resources division as part of internal restructuring,

"To support our People Operations team's innovative work ahead, we're opening new roles and offering a voluntary exit program with severance for their US-based employees," Google spokesperson Brandon Asberry said Friday in an emailed statement to MT Newswires.

CNBC reported Thursday on Google staff cuts with the HR exit program for full-time US employees starting in early March, citing a memo issued Tuesday by HR chief Fiona Cicconi.

In the cloud unit, the company made cuts to several teams, mostly affecting operations support staff, with some roles moving to India and Mexico, CNBC reported, citing sources and internal memos.

"Our teams have continued to make changes to operate more efficiently, remove layers, and ensure they are set up for long-term success," Asberry said. "This work is ongoing as we continue to invest in our company's biggest priorities."

Shares of Alphabet fell 0.1% in after-hours trading.
