BYD NEV Sales Rebound to 322,846 in Feb, Overseas Sales Set New Record

BYD Group's new energy vehicle (NEV) sales rebounded in February, as the impact of the Chinese New Year holiday eased.

The NEV maker sold 322,846 NEVs in February, up 163.95 percent from 122,311 in the same month last year and up 7.42 percent from 300,538 in January, according to figures it released today.

The beginning of each year is usually a slow period for China's auto industry, especially the months where the New Year holiday falls. This year, the Chinese New Year holiday was from January 28 to February 4, compared with February 10-17 last year.

In the January-February period, BYD Group's NEV sales amounted to 623,384 units, up 92.52 percent year-on-year.

BYD ceased production and sales of vehicles powered entirely by internal combustion engines in March 2022, switching to a focus on producing plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) models.

BYD's NEVs include passenger cars as well as commercial vehicles, with sales of passenger NEVs totaling 318,233 units in February, an increase of 161.39 percent year-on-year and up 7.35 percent from January.

In the January-February period, BYD's passenger NEV sales were 614,679 units, up 90.44 percent year-on-year.

Its commercial NEVs sold 4,613 units in February, up 719.36 percent from a year earlier and up 12.73 percent from January.

In the January-February period, BYD sold 8,705 commercial NEVs, up 739.44 percent from a year earlier.

In February, BYD sold 67,025 NEVs in overseas markets, the third consecutive month of record highs. This represents a year-on-year increase of 187.77 percent and an increase of 1.04 percent from January.

In the January-February period, BYD sold 133,361 NEVs in overseas markets, up 124.27 percent year-on-year.

The automobile brands under the BYD Group include BYD, Denza, Fang Cheng Bao and Yangwang.

The BYD brand, which has the Dynasty and Ocean series, sold 304,673 NEVs in February, up 167.12 percent year-on-year and up 10.41 percent from January.

The BYD brand reported NEV sales of 580,621 units in January-February, up 94.09 percent year-on-year.

Denza saw NEV sales of 8,513 units in February, up 85.15 percent year-on-year but 27.36 percent lower than in January.

Denza's NEV sales in January-February were 20,233 units, up 48.05 percent year-on-year.

Fang Cheng Bao had NEV sales of 4,942 units in February, up 113.94 percent year-on-year but 20.53 percent lower than in January.

In the January-February period, Fang Cheng Bao's NEV sales were 11,161 units, up 48.56 percent year-on-year.

Yangwang sold 105 units in February, down 86.54 percent year-on-year and 63.29 percent lower than in January.

In the January-February period, Yangwang sold 391 units, down 83.92 percent year-on-year.
