1719 ET - Global supply chains already are becoming more distributed globally as companies cut dependence on Chinese manufacturing, says Soren Toft, CEO of world No. 1 containership carrier Mediterranean Shipping. "We are seeing real, active steps for diversifying away from China and adding more sourcing points," Toft tells S&P Global's TPM25 conference. This means more companies are sourcing goods from Indian, Indonesia, Vietnam, Turkey and African nations. Despite concerns about new tariffs, overall Toft says expects growth in shipping. "More customers, also here in North America, are talking about growth-not crazy growth-but they're talking about growth." (paul.berger@wsj.com)
