March 6 - (The Insurer) - Miller has formed an M&A and strategic solutions team, led globally by new hires Andrew Johnson and Edwina Charlton.
Based in London, the team will sit within Miller’s professional and financial risks business.
The M&A and strategic solutions team will advise Miller's client base of private equity, hedge and sovereign wealth funds, corporates, law firms and corporate financiers on domestic and cross-border risks across all industry sectors.
As well as transactional risk insurance, the team plans to build out separate specialist tax and contingent risk practices, with the aim of becoming one of the major full-service teams outside of North America.
Johnson will also work with the wider business on its growth initiatives, having joined Miller from Paragon International Insurance Brokers where he served as managing director of the M&A practice. He also held other previous private equity M&A roles at Marsh McLennan and Squire Patton Boggs.
Charlton also joins Miller from Paragon, where she spent five years as a director. Prior to that, she was senior vice president of private equity M&A at Marsh.
Rupert Newman also joins the new team from Paragon (and formerly Marsh) as head of broking.
Laura McDonough, head of professional and financial risks at Miller, said the launch of the M&A and strategic solutions was a response to the "general pace and volume" of deal activity, as well as the expansion of tax and contingent risk insurance in the global market.
