Platform expands construction industry group with two hires from NFP

March 5 - (The Insurer) - Canada's Platform Insurance Management has expanded its construction industry group with the hires of Jason Smith and Steve Stahl from NFP.

Both senior vice presidents will be join Platform's soon-to-open Edmonton office, strengthening the Toronto-based brokerage's presence in Western Canada.

Smith joins privately-owned Platform after two years at NFP, where he served as vice president for surety. Before that, he spent 12 years at Foster Park Brokers as surety practice leader and partner, and had previously worked at both Aon and the Guarantee Company of North America.

Stahl also joins from NFP, where he was assistant vice president for surety, client executive. Like Smith, he previously worked at Foster Park Brokers as a partner and surety account executive.

Founded in 2014, Platform specialises in insurance, surety, sub-default insurance and benefit solutions.

“The addition of Jason and Steve reinforces our commitment to delivering unparalleled service to contractors and developers in Western Canada,” said Platform Managing Director Fraser de Walle, adding: “Their deep industry knowledge and innovative approach will be instrumental in driving the next phase of our growth”.

Platform recruited Patrick Baker and David Bowcott, along with eight other senior specialists from Marsh and NFP, in July, saying the hires would solidify its position in the Canadian construction insurance sector.
