NGX Says Testing Confirms Suitability of Malawi Project Graphite for Lithium-Ion Batteries, Shares Fall 3%

NGX (ASX:NGX) said electrochemical testing confirmed that coated purified spherical graphite from its Malingunde graphite project in Malawi met key criteria required for qualification in lithium-ion battery applications, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.

Electrochemical testing on the spherical graphite achieved an initial capacity of 367 milliampere-hours-per-gram, above the premium market benchmark of 360mAh/g.

It met the grade one initial capacity and grade two first cycle efficiency China Standards, and the firm identified processing options to improve the first cycle efficiency.

The spherical graphite samples produced from the program will be provided to cell manufacturers and potential customers.

Its shares fell 3% in recent trading on Wednesday.
