Washington-based Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA) accused South Korea's Fair Trade Commission (FTC) of bypassing transparency obligations under the Korea-US Free Trade Agreement (FTA) while drafting the platform law.

CCIA claims the FTC failed to provide prior notice or allow public opinions, violating Article 21 of the FTA, Pulse News reported Tuesday.

The CCIA also criticized the exclusion of Chinese platforms such as Alibaba and TikTok from regulation, arguing it posed disadvantages for US firms. The FTC pledged to review the concerns and ensure compliance with trade rules, the report said.
