Geneva-based certification body SGS certified Samsung Electronics' (KRX:005930) quantum dot (QD) sheet used in QD TVs as cadmium-free and said it complied with the EU's restriction of hazardous substances directive.
SGS verified that Samsung's QD film meets stringent safety and environmental standards, Samsung Electronics said in a Wednesday release.
Shares of the company rose nearly 2% in recent trade on Wednesday.
