1134 GMT - The U.S. is in a unique position when it comes to global arms exports, with a share of 43%, more than four times as much as France, the next largest exporter, says Mathew George, program director at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). "The USA continues to be the supplier of choice for advanced long-range strike capabilities like combat aircraft," George says. For the first time in two decades, the largest share of U.S. arms exports in 2020-24 went to Europe, at 35%, instead of the Middle East (33%), according to a SIPRI report published Monday. Saudi Arabia was the top single recipient of U.S. arms, representing 12% of U.S. arms exports, the report states. (cristina.gallardo@wsj.com)
