1752 ET - East Coast skiers boosted Vail Resorts' fiscal second-quarter results. Overall visitation to the company's North American ski resorts ticked higher in the recent quarter, which CEO Kirsten Lynch attributes in part to better skiing conditions. Visitation to the company's western North American resorts was below prior-year levels, though, "which we believe was driven by the continued shift in historical visitation patterns across the ski industry to later in the ski season," Lynch says. Ancillary revenues--which include dining and ski-school sales--were strong overall, though they were hurt by fewer non-local visitor traveling to the company's western resorts, she adds. Shares rise 3.5% after hours as Vail logs higher profit and revenue in its fiscal 2Q. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
