DeSoto Resources (ASX:DES) has begun ground exploration work on the Siguiri projects in Guinea, according to a Monday filing with the Australian bourse.
Activities include oil and dump sampling, results from which will be used to guide the company's first-pass drill programs, the filing stated.
The mineral explorer also reported "encouraging results" from limited rock chip sampling at the Dadjan permit, with up to 0.92 grams per tonne grade of gold identified.
Further, the company received results from a historical shallow drilling program at the Gbonko 2 permit, including two meters at 24 grams per tonne grade of gold from 10 meters.
