One Liquidia Insider Raised Their Stake In The Previous Year

From what we can see, insiders were net buyers in Liquidia Corporation's (NASDAQ:LQDA ) during the past 12 months. That is, insiders acquired the stock in greater numbers than they sold it.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Liquidia

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Independent Director Paul Manning for US$3.0m worth of shares, at about US$8.90 per share. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (US$14.03), we still think insider buying is a positive. Because it occurred at a lower valuation, it doesn't tell us much about whether insiders might find today's price attractive.

Insider Ownership Of Liquidia

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It's great to see that Liquidia insiders own 11% of the company, worth about US$132m. This kind of significant ownership by insiders does generally increase the chance that the company is run in the interest of all shareholders.

So What Does This Data Suggest About Liquidia Insiders?

There haven't been any insider transactions in the last three months -- that doesn't mean much. However, our analysis of transactions over the last year is heartening. It would be great to see more insider buying, but overall it seems like Liquidia insiders are reasonably well aligned (owning significant chunk of the company's shares) and optimistic for the future.
