1357 ET - Mattel has big aspirations at the box office following the success of "Barbie" in 2023. The toymaker currently has two movies in production: one based on its Masters of the Universe franchise, and the other based on its Matchbox cars. "We know that not every movie will be the next 'Barbie,' but we intend to apply the same approach, the same methodology in terms of attracting the best talent, working with the best studios and then creating demand behind our movies," CEO Ynon Kreiz says at the UBS Global Consumer and Retail Conference. He additionally notes that not every movie needs to reach "Barbie" levels of success to materially boost the company's finances. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
