1033 ET - Dollar General's 1.2% same-store sales growth in 4Q was driven by higher average transaction amounts, which CEO Todd Vasos says came from an even split of higher prices on its items and customers buying more items each time they came in. Those gains offset a 1.1% traffic slowdown at Dollar General, the CEO says on a call with analysts, as the discount retailer's lower-income customers faced heftier economic pressures than higher-earning households. The chain's customers have been buying more consumables while growth among its discretionary categories takes a backseat, he says. (dean.seal@wsj.com)
