0914 GMT - Hesai Group's earnings could be stronger this year, given the sensor maker's determination to curb operating expenses, Daiwa analysts write in a note. China's mass-market car market may drive stronger demand for LiDAR products, further boosting the company's performance this year, they say. Daiwa forecasts shipments of 3 million units of advanced driver-assistance systems LiDAR sensors this year in China, mainly driven by mid- to high-end cars with price tags over 150,000 yuan. Meanwhile, the robotics sector could drive some upside surprise for Hesai, as LiDAR is necessary to help robots navigate and avoid obstacles when operating in a complicate space, the investment bank says. Daiwa maintains a buy rating for the stock, which last closed at $22.55. (jiahui.huang@wsj.com; @ivy_jiahuihuang)
