Meta Platforms (META) will work with Agence France-Presse and the Australian Associated Press in reviewing content on its social media platforms to avoid and limit misinformation ahead of Australia national elections due by May, Reuters reported Tuesday.

Cheryl Seeto, Meta's head of policy in Australia, said in a blog post that the company plans to detect and remove content that could interfere with voting and lead to violence, along with deepfakes that violate policies, the report said.

Seeto said Meta's strategy in Australia is consistent with its initiatives to curb misinformation during recent elections in India, Britain and the US, according to Reuters.

Meta Platforms did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
