Darden Restaurants is going to start running food delivery for its Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen brand through Uber Technologies after a successful rollout at Darden's Olive Garden chain.
The Orlando, Fla., restaurant operator said Thursday it is conducting a pilot of the Uber Direct delivery arrangement for 10 Cheddar's restaurants.
Customers can order delivery directly from Cheddar's website or app, and Uber Direct will fulfill the order through its national delivery network, said Darden.
Once the pilot is completed, Cheddar's plans to deploy the delivery arrangement more broadly across its system.
Darden's chief information officer, Chris Chang, said the company is confident in the pilot following a strong rollout at Olive Garden.
Olive Garden operators have provided positive feedback about the benefits and ease of integrating Uber Direct into their operations, according to Sarfraz Maredia, Uber's head of delivery for the Americas.
