DuPont has tapped 20-year company veteran Jon Kemp to serve as chief executive of the electronics business it is spinning off into an independent public company.

DuPont on Monday said Kemp, who has been president of its electronics and industrial segment since 2019, will also serve on the board of the new company, adding that the spinoff is on track for completion on Nov. 1.

The Wilmington, Del., chemical and materials maker last year unveiled plans to split into three companies, but DuPont in January said it had decided to keep its water-filtration business and hasten the spinoff of its electronics unit.

DuPont said Michael Stubblefield, president and CEO of life-science tools company Avantor, will serve as a chairman of the spinoff, which will provide materials and technology solutions for the semiconductor and electronics industries.

DuPont said the chief financial officer of the spinoff will be an external hire with a proven track record of performance at a publicly traded company.
