Nvidia is working with several telecommunications and research companies to develop an artificial-intelligence-native wireless network for 6G.

Chief Executive Jensen Huang said Tuesday the chipmaker plans to work with T-Mobile, Mitre, Cisco, ODC and Booz Allen Hamilton to make a wireless network that is integrated with AI.

The network will be developed using an AI-native wireless-network stack based on Nvidia's AI Aerial platform, which provides radio-access networks on the chipmaker's accelerated-computing platform. It is intended to improve efficiency and services for users, and expected to create new revenue streams for the telecommunications companies, Nvidia said.

This marks an expansion of the existing collaboration between T-Mobile and Nvidia, which launched last year with a goal of providing more research-based concepts for AI-native 6G network capabilities.

Mitre plans to research, prototype and contribute AI-driven services and applications. Cisco expects to provide mobile-core and network technologies, and ODC wants to deliver software for units of virtual radio-access network. Booz Allen Hamilton plans to develop AI radio-access-network algorithms and provide security for the network.
