The broad market exchange-traded fund SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) was up 1.3% and the actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) advanced 1.6% in Monday's premarket activity, ahead of key inflation data releasing this week.
US stock futures were also higher, with S&P 500 Index futures up 1.2%, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures advancing 1%, and Nasdaq futures gaining 1.5% before the start of regular trading.
The Chicago Fed National Activity Index for last month will be released at 8:30 am ET, followed by the purchasing managers' index report from S&P Global (SPGI) for March at 9:45 am ET.
In premarket action, bitcoin was up by 3.1% and the cryptocurrency fund ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BITO) was 4.3% higher.
Power Play:
Health Care
The Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLV) advanced 0.6%. The Vanguard Health Care Index Fund (VHT) was up 0.1% while the iShares US Healthcare ETF (IYH) was inactive. The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) gained 0.8%.
23andMe (ME) stock was down more than 41% premarket after the company said Sunday it has begun voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings to facilitate a sale.

Industrial
Industrial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLI) advanced 1.1% and the Vanguard Industrials Index Fund (VIS) gained 1.4%, while the iShares US Industrials ETF (IYJ) was inactive.
AZEK (AZEK) stock was up more than 20% before the opening bell after James Hardie Industries (JHX) agreed to a cash and stock deal to acquire AZEK for $8.75 billion.
Consumer
The Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) was up 0.4%, while the Vanguard Consumer Staples Fund (VDC) gained 0.04% The iShares US Consumer Staples ETF (IYK) was down 0.7%, and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) advanced 1.4%. The VanEck Retail ETF (RTH) was inactive, while the SPDR S&P Retail ETF (XRT) rose 0.3%.
U Power (UCAR) shares were up 8% pre-bell after the company said its Thai unit, U SWAP, signed a joint venture agreement with SUSCO, a utility provider in Thailand.
Technology
Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) advanced 1.5%, and the iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) was 1.4% higher, while the iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) was inactive. Among semiconductor ETFs, SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) rose 1.3%, while the iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) was 1.7% higher.
SEALSQ (LAES) shares were up more than 6% in recent Monday premarket activity after it agreed to acquire a 30% equity interest in blockchain technology firm WeCanGroup.
Energy
The iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) was inactive, while the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) was up by 0.7%.
NexGen Energy (NXE) stock was up 3% before Monday's opening bell after the company said it recorded its highest-grade discovery-phase drill result at the Rook I property, with hole RK-25-232 intersecting 3.9 meters of high uranium concentration within a larger 13.8-meter mineralized zone.
Financial
Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) advanced 1.2%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) rose 3.7%, while its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) was 3.4% lower.
Dun & Bradstreet Holdings (DNB) shares were up nearly 3% pre-bell Monday after the company entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Clearlake Capital Group in a deal valued at $7.7 billion.
Commodities
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil advanced 0.7% to $68.75 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Natural gas was down 1.3% to $3.93 per 1 million British Thermal Units. United States Oil Fund (USO) gained 0.8%, while the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) fell 0.4%.
Gold futures for April gained 0.4% to $3,032.40 an ounce on the Comex, while silver futures advanced 0.5% to $33.66 an ounce. SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) increased 0.2%, and the iShares Silver Trust (SLV) was 0.4% higher.
