Shares of Planet Labs shares climbed after it signed a contract with the European Space Agency to provide Greece with commercial satellite data.

The stock advanced 8% to $4.09 on Monday. Shares have gained 65% over the past 12 months.

The San Francisco satellite-imagery collector said Monday it plans to provide PlanetScope data to support Greece's development of future downstream services for its national satellite data program and enable technological development.

Planet's data provides a near-daily scan of all of Earth's landmass at three-meter resolution. This offers a historical archive of Earth observation data dating back over a decade, which can help international governments and businesses make decisions.

The contract is on behalf of the Hellenic Ministry of Digital Governance to support the Greek National SmallSat Programme.
