Alibaba (BABA) and Huawei-made semiconductors are reportedly being used by Ant Group to develop cost-efficient artificial intelligence training techniques, multiple media outlets reported Sunday, citing unnamed sources.

Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter, reported that Ant is leveraging the Mixture of Experts machine learning technique to reduce training costs by 20%. While it continues to use Nvidia (NVDA) chips, Ant is increasingly shifting to domestic and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) alternatives amid the US export restrictions, the report said.

CNBC also reported Sunday that Ant Group is using a combination of Chinese and US-made chips -- from AMD, Huawei, and Alibaba -- to train its AI models and lessen its reliance on Nvidia. When inquired by CNBC, Ant declined to provide a comment.

Alibaba did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
