Frequency Electronics said it has been awarded a subcontract from Leidos to develop a nitrogen vacancy diamond magnetometer to detect magnetic fields.
The provider of precision timing and frequency technology on Thursday said that it will lead the design, prototyping, and testing phases of the NV Diamond magnetometer as part of a multi-year effort.
The company didn't provide financial details of the subcontract.
"This subcontract reflects the growing demand for highly sensitive, reliable, and compact magnetic field sensors across defense, intelligence, and scientific applications," Frequency Electronics Chief Executive Thomas McClelland said.
