Singapore's manufacturing output decreased 1.3% year-on-year in February, mainly due to weak performance from the electronics clusters, according to data released by EDB Singapore on Wednesday.

Excluding the biomedical sector, industrial production rose 0.3% year over year, while on a three-month moving average basis, output rose 4.3%, compared with the year-ago period.

On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, output was down 7.5% in February.

Excluding biomedical manufacturing, output decreased 7.9%, the data showed.

The electronics cluster declined 6.4% year-on-year while biomedical manufacturing output contracted 14.3% year-over-year.

For the precision engineering cluster, output was up 16.2% year-on-year in February, mainly due to a higher output of plastic and metal precision components.
