- European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen described U.S. President Donald Trump's universal tariffs as a major blow to the world economy and said the European Union was prepared to respond with countermeasures if talks with Washington failed.

- Deloitte is cutting U.S. workers in its consulting business after the federal government demanded it find ways to shrink the cost of government projects it is working on.

- Hershey HSY.N agreed to a roughly $750 million deal for the popcorn brand LesserEvil.

- Puma PUMG.DE said Chief Executive Arne Freundt is leaving due to differing views with the company's supervisory board on strategy execution and named former Adidas ADSGn.DE executive Arthur Hoeld as his successor.
