1748 ET - Steep new tariffs on Southeast Asian countries will sting manufacturers that moved operations there in order to avoid previous rounds of U.S. tariffs against China. U.S. imports from Thailand, for instance, grew by 12.5% last year to $63.3 billion, and imports from Vietnam grew by 19% year over year to hit $136.6 billion. According to President Trump's tariff chart, the U.S. will now charge a 46% tariff against Vietnam and a 36% tariff against Thailand. (matt.grossman@wsj.com; @mattgrossman)
