--Kenneth DeGiorgio, the chief executive of First American Financial, faces a federal assault charge of choking a man on a cruise ship, NBC News reports.

--Authorities allege that DeGiorgio choked the victim following an incident that involved his wife early Monday in international waters on a Virgin Voyages cruise ship, NBC News reports, citing a federal criminal complaint.

--A spokesperson for DeGiorgio's legal team said he was protecting his wife, according to the report.
