Toyota Motor's (TM) North American unit has told auto parts makers that it plans to help cover the higher costs related to the Trump administration's announced tariffs, Nikkei reported Friday.
The company told major suppliers it will help pay for imported parts from Mexico and Canada, the report said.
Details of the assistance are not available yet, but the company has told Japanese suppliers it will maintain current operations for now, Nikkei said.
Toyota did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
