Houston-based NRG Energy Inc. announced the retirement of Rasesh Patel, president of NRG Consumer, effective May 19.
The company anticipates naming a successor during the second quarter. Patel will remain in an advisory role during the transition, the company said in an April 7 press release.
Patel joined NRG in March 2023 as president of smart home—a security, energy and automation management platform—following the acquisition of Vivint Smart Home.
In March 2024, he assumed the leadership of NRG’s consumer business, including home energy and Smart Home, the company said.
Under Patel’s leadership, the company integrated its home energy and smart home platforms which led to pioneering a residential virtual power plant offering—“an achievement made possible by our vision of seamlessly integrating smart home technologies with energy solutions and the trusted relationships we have built with our customers,” Patel said.
