BlockBeats News, April 6th, according to Decrypt's report, the London City Police have partnered with the law firm Gowling WLG to launch a civil asset recovery plan. The plan is mainly aimed at cases where criminal prosecution is not possible, providing an opportunity for victims of cryptocurrency fraud to recover their assets. Previously, the UK police successfully recovered £520,000 (approximately $671,000) worth of stolen cryptocurrency for an 80-year-old man in a pilot project. This recovery action benefited from updates to the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, granting the police the power to freeze stolen digital assets. Bríd Holden, Director of Gowling, expressed hope that through this collaboration, the willingness of victims to report cases will increase. They will coordinate recovery work between the police and the victims and their legal representatives to combat organized crime groups.
