JP Morgan $(JPM)$, BlackRock $(BLK)$, Morgan Stanley $(MS)$, and Wells Fargo $(WFC)$ are expected to report earnings before the bell.
Novartis (CH:NOVN): Shares of the Swiss drug maker rose more than 2% in Zurich after it promised to spend $23 billion to expand its U.S. footprint. President Trump has singled out the pharma industry as a target for future tariffs.
MicroStrategy $(MSTR)$ and Coinbase Global $(COIN)$: The crypto-linked stocks rose more than 2% premarket as bitcoin prices climbed back above $81,000.
Newmont $(NEM)$ and Barrick Gold $(GOLD)$: The gold miners' shares jumped premarket as demand for haven assets drives gold prices to new records.
BP (UK:BP, BP): The energy company reported lower gas and low-carbon production and higher debt in the first quarter. Shares fell about 2% in London.
BYD (HK:1211): The Chinese e-vehicle stock jumped around 7% in Hong Kong despite the escalating U.S.-China trade war. Brokerage Daiwa lifted sales and profit projections for BYD, saying it expects continued overseas expansion. Shares of Geely Automobile (HK:175), another Chinese EV maker, climbed more than 6%.
