Sylvamo said it has appointed John Sims as the company's chief executive officer, succeeding retiring chairman and chief executive, Jean-Michel Ribieras, at the start of next year.
Sims currently serves as the paper company's chief financial officer, and has been elected COO by the company's board of directors, effective May 1, where he will lead commercial and operational functions while Ribieras sees out the end of his term. Ribieras has been CEO since 2021.
Sims will take over the reins on Jan. 1, the company said Wednesday.
The company appointed Don Devlin to the role of CFO to succeed Sims, starting on May 1. Devlin joins Sylvamo from International Paper, where he held numerous leadership and finance positions, most recently serving as vice president of transformation and strategy deployment.
