Financial stocks were advancing in Monday afternoon trading, with the NYSE Financial Index rising 1.3% and the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) ahead 1.2%.
The Philadelphia Housing Index was up 0.4%, and the Real Estate Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLRE) was climbing 2.1%.
Bitcoin (BTC-USD) was fractionally lower at $84,817, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries was falling 10.9 basis points to 4.38%.
In corporate news, Goldman Sachs' (GS) Q1 results surpassed market estimates as equities-trading revenue hit record levels, while CEO David Solomon said market volatility is expected to continue amid policy uncertainty. Goldman shares rose 2.8%.
KKR (KKR) is buying OSTTRA, a joint venture between S&P Global (SPGI) and CME (CME), in a deal worth $3.1 billion. KKR shares advanced 1.7%, S&P Global added 1.4%, and CME was up 1.1%.
M&T Bank's (MTB) Q1 results rose year over year but fell short of market expectations, while the lender lowered its full-year net interest income outlook. Its shares were up 0.5%.
