Tesla (TSLA) has put a hold on shipping key components from China for its upcoming Cybercab and Semi models after US tariffs on Chinese imports sharply increased, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing a source familiar with the matter.
The company was initially prepared to handle a 34% duty, but additional hikes brought the total to 145%, making the cost unsustainable, the report said.
Tesla was set to start pilot production of the Cybercab in Texas and the Semi in Nevada later this year, with larger-scale production beginning next year, the report said.
Tesla did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
