1243 ET - The market for U.S. beer, flavored malt beverages and cider saw year-over-year volume declines of 4.6% over the past 12 months, a softening that was likely exacerbated by the later timing of Easter this year, Bernstein analysts say in a research note. Easter arrived at the end of March in 2024 but is happening on April 20 this year, meaning the comparable period at issue doesn't have the Easter boost it received last year, they say. This makes for a sequential decline from the already weak volumes the market experienced in early March and "the lowest level seen over the last 12 months," the analysts say. (dean.seal@wsj.com)
