BOE Likely to Reduce Pace of Gilt Sales From October -- Market Talk

Dow Jones

1047 GMT - The Bank of England is likely to slow the pace of gilt sales, also referred to as quantitative tightening, starting in October, Bank of America analysts say in a note. The BOE last week replaced the sale of long-dated gilts scheduled for April 14 with a short-dated gilt, in response to the sharp rise in 30-year gilt yields which touched a multi-year high of 5.663%. "If the BOE decides that there is a further need to address the bond market volatility, further adjustments to quantitative tightening operations are possible in the very near term," BofA says.
