April 15 - (The Insurer) - Paris-based reinsurer Arundo Re, the recently rebranded CCR Re, has named Kshitij Chirimar as senior underwriter for the Indian subcontinent, a move designed expand the carrier’s footprint across the region.
Chirimar brings over a decade of experience in the reinsurance industry and deep expertise across a wide range of non-life lines of business.
Prior to joining Arundo Re, he held strategic positions at Verity Knowledge Solutions and ACE Insurance Brokers. The reinsurer noted that Chirimar has played a key role in structuring innovative risk transfer solutions across India, Central Asia and East Asia.
Arundo Re chief underwriting officer Hervé Nessi said Chirimar’s knowledge of the local market and “solid relationships” with key regional players will strengthen the reinsurer’s position in the region.
The appointment follows shortly after the carrier reported gross written premium growth of 15% to 1.36 billion euros ($1.5 billion) in 2024 and net income of 64 million euros.
As of July 2023, Arundo Re has been majority-owned by a consortium of mutual insurers made up of SMABTP, MACSF and CCR. The deal, first announced in February 2023, valued CCR Re at close to 1 billion euros.
Arundo Re is now present in 103 countries worldwide, operating across property and casualty, life and health, and certain specialty lines including credit, marine, aviation, space and agriculture.
