Nvidia Chip Restrictions Likely Part of 'More Comprehensive Approach' by U.S. -- Market Talk

1912 ET - The Trump Administration's restrictions on Nvidia's exports of AI H20 chips to China looks to be part of a more comprehensive approach that we will learn about from the government soon, DA Davidson analyst Gil Luria tells The Wall Street Journal. Chip makers Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, Broadcom, Intel and Qualcomm down between about 2% to 4% in post-market trading. "The administration is focused on national security and it's a matter on how much is sold to China," Luria says. "The Chinese government is trying to beat the U.S. government and Chinese companies are trying to beat American companies." Nvidia would rather deal with tariffs than selling restrictions, Luria says, adding that around 20% to 30% of Nvidia's sales come from China or Chinese companies. Nvidia down 5.6% after-hours to $105.90. (sabela.ojea@wsj.com; @sabelaojeaguix)
